Texas Holdem Poker: the Rules
Texas Hold’em is, as Doyle Brunson, one of the legends of the game, called it - “The Cadillac of poker”. With this type of poker players can make use of strategies, skills and luck to win the game.
It is thought that Texas Holdem started out in the early 20th century in Robstown, Texas. Over the years, the game has become much easier to play and people can effortlessly start learning the game.
Pretty much all the internet poker rooms offer Texas Hold’em poker. The game is played by betwee two to eleven players at a time and blinds (bets) are rotated around the table.
Two different kinds of blinds are used in the game : namely big blind and small blind. The big blind takes the minimum bet on the table and the small blind uses half the amount of the bigger blind. The game of Texas Holdem begins when the players put money into the pot.
Two cards are then dealt face down to all players. After this, the betting starts by the player on the left of the player who placed the money for the blind. Every player is required to bet on his turn and he can also call or raise at his turn, if he feels the need.
When the first betting round ends, the first card from the deck is cast off by the dealer to prevent any kind of cheating.
Then, the next three cards are put on the table face up - this is called the Flop. After the Flop, the next betting round is started by the player to the left to the dealer.
After this betting round, the fourth community card is dealt face-up - this is commonly known as Fourth Street. Similarly, Fifth Street is also carried out for the final showdown, as in total five community cards are shown as face up.
The final round of betting is played after the Fifth Street and the players have to use the combination of seven cards, that is, two hole cards and five community cards. The winner of the game is the one who holds the best five card hand.
