Thinking about Life Coaching?
Life coaching is a term that is often banded around the media and TV giving it a sort of ‘celebrity’ status and in the process making many people think it is something that is only suitable for the rich and famous. The reality couldn’t be any further away from this if it tried!
Life coaching has become more and more popular with people from all professions and social backgrounds. The benefits of professional life coaching to one’s personal and professional life can be quite staggering and in some cases, life-changing.
Life coaches themselves are often people with a particular area of expertise, it can range from business, financial or even those who have a great deal of life experience. This isn’t to say that all life coaches are older people who are out of touch with the world today - far from it, many are young, highly motivated and prepared to go the extra mile - the perfect ingredients for a coach in any type of situation.
A life coach will usually provide guidance, offer advice, be a motivator and a shoulder to cry on. They can help bring goals into focus and help you achieve personal goals. Much like a sports coach they are there in the background as a constant guide and mentor to help keep you focused on the final goal.
Coaches are not miracle workers however, nor will they re-invigorate a failing business model or solve personal issues in an instant. They can be on hand to advise and offer support, but ultimately they are not a short cut for hard-work, they are a guide that will help make the work that is needed be more effective and efficient.
In summary, if you are considering enrolling with a life coach be prepared for what you want to get out of the process, enjoy the process and don’t expect miracles, at least not right away anyway!
