Diet Tip: Don’t Weigh Yourself

Trying to lose weight? Here’s some advice — stay away from your bathroom scale. In fact, it’s best to weigh in but just one time a week. On that day, weigh yourself in the morning. Don’t have any food or drink before getting on the scale. This way will provide you with a much more true depiction of your overall dieting success over time.

Instead of depending upon your weight to evaluate your success, look at how well your clothes fit.A snug skirt or dress can render a marvelous judgment of your weight loss achievements.

Why is weighing yourself a dreadful approach?

Hourly weight variations. Everyone’s weight changes throughout any given day by three to five pounds. This is obvious when you weigh yourself in the morning on an empty stomach after a bowel movement versus the end of the evening after a full day of drinking and eating. It will be obvious that you are one or two pounds more heavy at the end of your day than in the morning.

Body fat is lighter in weight than muscle. If you are working to build muscle, then you need to remember that you will be developing muscle mass and trimming down fat. It’s often the case that your BMI (the percentage of fat to muscle) might be diminishing, while your overall weight continues to stay the same or even goes up.

Weight gain developing from stress. If you weigh in on the scale every morning, it can stimulate needless stress on you. If you’re more heavy than you hoped for, you might have emotional reactivity. The release of stress hormones cause our bodies to store fat.
